The Wild Wood STANDARD
Here at WWD, we believe raising exceptional puppies begins long before they are born. It requires intention, patience, and a deep commitment to doing things the right way- not the easy way. Our program is built around thoughtful pairings, health-tested parents, and a passion for producing dogs that are as sound in temperament as they are in structure.
Each puppy is raised in our home and surrounded by daily life, where they are gently guided through early development with purpose and care. From their first days, we focus on building confidence, stability, and adaptability so they are well-prepared to transition into their future families.
We are dedicated to raising puppies who truly enrich the lives of the families they join- bringing connection, companionship, and joy into the home. Every step of our process reflects the time, energy, and heart we pour into each litter.
When your puppy goes home, you can feel confident knowing they’ve been given a strong, thoughtful foundation. And our support doesn’t end there- we are here as a resource for you every step of the way.

Puppy curriculum
thoughtfully raised. intentionally prepared
we don’t just raise puppies- we guide them through early experiences that shape who they become.
From their very first days, our puppies are gently introduced to the world around them in a way that builds confidence, resilience, and calm, steady temperaments.
Days 3-16
Early Neurological Conditioning
We begin with brief, gentle exercises designed to support early development and strengthen natural responses.
These simple interactions help build resilience from the very start and lay the foundation for a well-balanced, adaptable dog.
→ This early start supports long-term health and stability.
Weeks 2-4
Sound & Touch Introduction
As puppies grow, we begin introducing everyday household sounds- like voices, movement, and routine activity- in a calm, positive way.
We also focus on gentle handling, including paws, ears, and full-body touch, so they become comfortable with grooming and everyday care.
→ Puppies learn that human interaction and daily life are safe and normal.
weeks 4-6
Confidence Building & New Experiences
This stage is all about exploration.
Puppies are introduced to new textures, surfaces, and environments, helping them learn how to move through the world with confidence.
They begin engaging more with people, play, and their surroundings- developing curiosity without BEING overwhelmED.
→ This is where confident, easygoing personalities begin to shine.
Weeks 6-8
Real-Life Preparation
As go-home day approaches, we focus on preparing puppies for life in a home setting.
They experience more structured routines, continued exposure to everyday sights and sounds, and early crate introduction.
By this stage, they HAVE BECOME used to the rhythm of a home- making the transition to their new families much smoother.
→ Puppies leave us ready to adapT TO THEIR NEW ENVIRONMENT WITH YOU.
